• Year 4 builds on your child’s growing independence with a curriculum that deepens knowledge and strengthens essential skills. With a strong foundation in literacy and a living education approach, students explore history, science, geography, nature study, art, music, and physical education through engaging and meaningful lessons.

This course is aligned with the Australian Curriculum V9, as well as the NSW and WA Curriculum frameworks. Inspired by Charlotte Mason’s gentle philosophy, our program encourages curiosity, narration, and connections across subjects—helping children see how ideas relate and come to life.

      • Year 4 Semester A (Term 1 & 2)

Semester One deepens curiosity and independence through classic literature, living science, and world discovery. In My Homeschool English 4A, children practise clear written expression with lessons in grammar, spelling, composition, and vocabulary drawn from rich texts and poetry. Aesop’s Fables Copywork strengthens cursive fluency while nurturing moral imagination and attention to language.

Science unfolds through three living-book style studies. Plant Life in Field and Garden introduces the hidden life of plants, roots, and flowers; Every Creature Has a Job explores how animals and humans move and survive; and The Water Cycle reveals how evaporation, rain, and rivers shape our world. Gentle experiments, nature observation, and narration make learning both practical and wonder-filled.

In History Makers 4A – Kings, Queens and Conquests, students journey from the Norman Conquest through the Middle Ages, meeting rulers, explorers, and reformers who shaped nations. Geography comes alive through Pleasant Talk of Places: Africa and South America, a story-rich introduction to cultures, climates, and wildlife across two vibrant continents. Enrichment continues through poetry, picture study, art, and music, while Work Out World and family-friendly PDHPE habits keep minds and bodies active.

      • Year 4 Semester B (Term 3 & 4)

Semester Two broadens horizons through the sea, science, and stories of Australia’s beginnings. My Homeschool English 4B builds strong paragraph writing and confident comprehension with themes of water and sea exploration, while Downunder Classics Copywork (Year 4) connects children to Australian voices and literature.

Science turns to the forces that move our world in Science Strands: Forces, Motion and Materials, where children experiment with gravity, magnetism, and the properties of matter through lively readings and hands-on inquiry. A Seashore Nature Study invites close observation of tides, shells, and marine life, weaving in Aboriginal perspectives on caring for Sea Country.

History completes the year with History Makers 4B – A Changing World, tracing discoveries, inventions, and revolutions that reshaped nations. Australian history and civics are explored in First Contacts and Early Australia, where students learn about First Nations connection to Country, early settlement, and the purpose of laws and leadership in community life. Creative arts, music, and design-and-technology projects (from simple crafts to digital creations) provide joyful outlets for expression, rounding out a balanced and beautiful Year 4 of learning.
