Enrichment Activities
This is a list of activities that you may wish to add to your weekly schedule. They are listed here as reminders but there are no specific resources that accompany them. These are activities where you decide what you want to teach and explore with your children. You probably won’t get to them every week but make an effort to cover them about once a month.
· Additional Reading Schedule. We haven’t allocated specific time for independent reading and reading additional novels such as our historical fiction suggestions. However, we know that these are an enjoyable and enriching part of your child’s Work out your own reading based on the chapters in the book. Your goal is to finish the books by the end of the term. And if you finish it quickly you might get time for another! We have suggested books to fit in with the curriculum in the Course Introduction but if you have already read them or have a better option, you as the educator should choose what is best for your child.
· Nature study and field trips usually require an intentional outing or day trip and fitting these into your weekly routine is not always possible. Making time for these activities requires scheduling so get out your calendar and plan some nature study times each term.
· Art, handicrafts, sport, music classes and foreign languages are all extra curricula activities that you may wish to enjoy as external classes in your community. Why not consider joining a homeschool co-op if there is one in your region (or consider gathering some friends and organising your own classes).
· If you are looking to study an additional foreign language in-depth or working towards fluency, you will need to source additional resources that we do not provide. For more information on teaching languages see our Boost Your Homeschool found in the My Homeschool learning platform.
