Phonics & reading practice

Parents will notice that our English Lessons include resources that support children learning to read and spell.  

The Australian Curriculum and NSW Syllabus detail the various letter-sounds children need to learn in the early years for reading and spelling. 

My Homeschool recommends the best phonics-based reading resources for homeschoolers to use to teach reading. In addition, our suite of Building Literacy resources will teach your child to spell using these same phonics-based approaches.  Through our copywork resources, these letter-sounds are practiced and reinforced.

As students progress through the various courses and stages of development the role of the parent in helping them with their spelling changes too. In our Homeschool Teaching 101 course we are happy to share some key tips to support your child in building their literacy. All of these are aimed at helping children see words spelled correctly and equipping them to spell accurately on a consistent basis.
