Foundation New Syllabus

The first semster offers a gentle introduction to formal learning, using short lessons, narration, picture study, and copywork. Children begin structured reading and writing with Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons (sold separately) and My First 100 Writing Lessons Part A, developing phonics skills, handwriting, and early composition.

Maths concepts are introduced naturally through My Homeschool Maths Foundation Part A, encouraging children to explore numbers, patterns, and measurement in everyday life.

Children journey through Australia's landscapes and culture with Australian Book Traveller, combining story, geography, history, and art. Early science begins with Australian Animal Mini Book, nurturing observation and storytelling about the natural world. Poetry, music, and movement enrich the weeks, helping weave a rich connection of ideas across all subjects.

The second semester builds on earlier skills with greater independence and deeper exploration. Children complete their reading and writing journey with Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons and My First 100 Writing Lessons Part B, strengthening narration and writing fluency.

Mathematical thinking grows through My Homeschool Maths Foundation Part B, extending into early addition, subtraction, grouping, and fractions. Science broadens into basic physics with How Things Move and a nature study of plants in A Plant Begins, encouraging real-world observation and hands-on discovery.

Social studies continue with Family Lines and Australian Holiday Year, connecting children to family history, celebrations, and community life. Picture study, poetry, music appreciation, and regular movement remain a joyful part of the curriculum, ensuring learning stays natural, connected, and inspiring.
