English Samples

In Semester One we are taking a look at the life of The Bard, his creative genius, we highlight some of his most popular plays and scenes, and learn about the famous Globe Theatre too.

Semester Two includes the study of one of Shakespeare's Tragedies.

Throughout Semester One one focus of English is on developing and analysing the skill of rhetoric and identifying opinion within the written and spoken word. Drawing on a range of texts, this presents many authors and their skills to teenagers, highlighting how they can incorporate these techniques into their own toolkit.

There is a Novel Study Guide provided for each term, so you will study four novels over Year Ten. In Term One the novel to be studied is The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows.
